My Heart and Used Cars for Sale
When I was a freshman in college a few years ago, I had a car that I loved. I couldn’t really afford it. That’s why today, as a new college grad, I actually don’t have a car. I know this sounds really silly, but I loved that car so much that I couldn’t bring myself to get another one for a while.
First of all, it was the first adult purchase I ever made. I didn’t have a cosigner, it was all me. I worked so hard for 2 summers to save up money for a down payment and was so proud when I finally had enough. I felt like I’d really accomplished something and when I had to admit that it wasn’t going to work out, it was devastating to me.
Secondly, the first half of freshman year as awesome. I could go wherever I wanted which was important on a campus as small as mine. You had to have a car if you didn’t want to be eternally bored. Imagine how hard it was for me when I went home for winter break with the stark realization that I couldn’t afford my car payments anymore. I thought I’d be able to work at school but my courses ended up being more difficult than I thought. With no income, I wasn’t going to be able to keep the car.
I was crushed. We did not have happy holidays that year because I spent the whole time sulking over my car. But that was a few years ago and now that I’m in a better place financially, I had a brilliant idea. Since I loved that car so much, why not just go to all the used car dealerships around until I found the same one? So, that’s what I set out to do.
It wasn’t that difficult, really. I looked at dealer inventory and used cars online. Luckily, it was a popular model and I was able to find a few options. Then it was a matter of negotiating.
I had to play it cool because when I found that my make and model was one of the used cars for sale at the dealership right by my apartment, I literally ran there. I found out about the dealership here by the way:https://www.carcanuck.ca/. But, I managed to collect myself and ended up getting a pretty good deal. It felt good to be back in the same model that I’d had all those years ago.
Next thing I did was start shopping for car insurance. Since regular insurance was to expensive I had to find some cheap no deposit car insurance; which I did manage to find here: http://www.verycheapcarinsurancenodeposit.com/
Finding the Cheapest Full Coverage Auto Insurance
I saved up for so long to buy my new car. I’d been driving the same second hand car since I was a sophomore in college. My grandma gave it to me when she decided she didn’t need two cars anymore. I loved that car. I drove it through high school, college, and the first few years at my first real job.
I was lucky because I didn’t actually put that many miles on it. Neither did my gram, it only had about 20,000 when she gave it to me and just turned over to 120,000 when I decided it was time to get a new car. I was doing okay financially. I’d saved up a decent down payment. I saw it as symbolic of me becoming an adult.
To fit into my budget, I needed to keep the monthly payment below a certain amount. And in order to do that, I had to use all of the money I’d saved. Now, I’d been planning to use some of that for other expenses – a parking lease, insurance, gas, that kind of stuff. So when I was left with only a few hundred bucks, I realized I was going to have to change my plan.
I had to have the lease or I wouldn’t be able to park it at work. And, obviously, I’d need to keep gas in the tank. Which meant I’d have to figure out a way to save money on the insurance. It was a brand new car so I wanted full coverage, but finding the cheapest full coverage auto insurance seemed like it would be difficult. Or really time consuming.
I did what everyone does these days. I scoured the internet for the cheapest full coverage car insurance I could find. It didn’t take long, either before I found: http://www.insurancebynerds.com/cheap-full-coverage-auto-insurance/. I had a few different offers I was considering. When I talked to the agent I eventually ended up working with, I flat out told him the offers I’d gotten from other companies. He told me he could do better and he’d get back to me later that day with a policy.
I thought he was full of it but, sure enough, he pulled through. I ended up with exactly what I needed. It fit into my budget and the coverage was really good. I wish I’d known from the beginning that it would be that easy!
Very Cheap Car Insurance No Deposit: Why an agent helped
[Here’s a story of what happened to one of my happy clients]
The accident was my fault. I completely accept responsibility because there really was nothing I could have done. I have heard that wet leaves can be as dangerous as ice but I thought it was an overstatement. It isn’t. I was actually going under the speed limit because it was dark and the road I was driving on didn’t have a lot of street lights. I went around a bend, lost control, and hit a phone pole. The other vehicle involved swerved to miss me and hit a phone pole on the opposite side of the street.
Luckily, no one was hurt. Thank goodness. The other car wasn’t going too fast, either, because the driving conditions were seriously bad. It could have been a lot worse. I don’t even want to think about what would happen if it had been a few months later and I’d have skidded on ice instead of leaves.
After the dust cleared and I dealt with my insurance company, I realized that there was no way I was going to be able to stick with them. Even after years of being a loyal customer and never filing a claim, the accident substantially raised my premiums. Even when I tried to cut back to the most basic coverage, it was too expensive. So I had to look elsewhere.
I didn’t have a lot of luck at first. A lot of companies wanted a deposit. Which I understand to an extent but it was as if my decades of driving without an accident didn’t matter at all. I had to shop around until I found an agent that was willing to listen and help me out. You’re probably thinking that’s impossible and I thought so, too! When they’d answer the phone, I’d say, “Let me explain…” and I’d either head an audible sigh on the other end of the line or the person would just cut me off.
The agent, Sonedna that ended up being willing to help me listened from the second someone picked up the phone. I don’t have coverage that’s as comprehensive as I had before the accident, but I ended up with a policy that gives me more than the legal minimum for a lot less than I’d have to pay at my old insurance company. Very cheap car insurance no deposit, who would have thought it was possible? Finding Sonedna made finding the cheapest auto insurance possible!
